The 300-page book follows the journey of Makati CBD’s visionaries – Col. Joseph R. McMicking, Alfonso Zobel de Ayala, Enrique Zobel de Ayala, and Jaime Zobel de Ayala – who developed the estate’s master plan. Being innovative pioneers of urban land development in the country, these key figures cultivated the Makati CBD to grow into one of the top business districts in Southeast Asia.
To launch the historic book, im电竞app官方网站 “booked” the integral Ayala Avenue on April 28, inviting people to #LookUp for an exciting visual spectacle. Beginning April 28 until May 5 from 6:00 PM to midnight, larger-than-life images of landmark moments in Makati CBD’s past will be projected at the Makati Stock Exchange Building, the canopy of Tower One and Exchange Plaza, and the VGP Building.

Located along the city’s central vein, the installations will project snippets from “Fifty Years and Forward,” giving viewers a rare glimpse into the early days of the beloved spots they now stand in. Juxtaposed against the emblematic infrastructures of Makati CBD almost 60 years later, passersby are sure to be treated to an unforgettable sight.
“Fifty Years and Forward” is a visual treat for lovers of architecture and history, featuring never-before-seen images from Makati CBD’s beginnings along with stunning new images from renowned photographer Wig Tysmans, along with Patrick Diokno and Paul Quiambao. The narrative was masterfully weaved by author Lisa Guerrero Nakpil, who dove into the archives of the Ayala Foundation’s repositories.
As the estate continues to thrive in the present day, the publication serves as an homage to the lasting legacies established by Makati CBD’s visionaries. With the compelling historic essays and visual artistry contained in “Fifty Years and Forward”, historians, art collectors, and lovers of Makati alike will find something to enjoy in this maiden offering.
